Contributions big and small!
This week we have been 'feeling the love' in a big way and with that, I want to start by saying a heartfelt thank you to all those I am about to mention.
A bit of help goes a long way and in the case of the Buy My Dress campaign, the support we have been receiving on many levels, has been fantastic.
Anthony, a man with Down syndrome, works with Bravo Outdoor - a full service outdoor advertising company – four days a week, where I am told he works as hard, if not harder, than everyone else! He is a valued member of the team in Bravo and so when it came to looking for a charity that Bravo might offer support to, they came to us in Down Syndrome Centre.Thanks to their offer of free ad space, 100 Dublin buses throughout the city are carrying T-side ads for Buy My Dress, asking that you “Donate a dress to Ireland’s largest one day charity dress sale”. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to spread the message about the event citywide, and more advertising will follow in both Cork and Galway. Needless to say, this is not something we would ever have considered funding ourselves but the benefit is enormous both to Buy My Dress and the in growing general awareness of the charity and what we do.
In addition to Peter Mark salons, selected Credit Unions throughout the country are allowing us to use their premises as drop-off points which allows us extend our collection network for dresses. Members of Unislim countrywide are also being invited to donate dresses at their classes and several companies are organising workplace collections.
Contrast this with a visitor we had to office last week. Dave, Dad to Ava , dropped by to give us the proceeds of a collection he and his wife Ciara made at Ava’s second birthday.
Certainly the impact of Dave and Ciara’s contribution may not be as far-reaching as Bravo’s for instance, but it does let us know that people on the ground – those that we are working to support - appreciate the job we are doing. And this message is great to receive.
