Get Down for The Down Syndrome Centre

Get Down for The Down Syndrome Centre!!

What is it?!

Choreograph, rehearse and perform a dance to a section of (or all, if you’re feeling really active!) any of the following songs:

  • Can’t Stop the Feeling (Justin Timberlake)
  • Blame it on the Boogie (The Jacksons)
  • Peanut Butter Jelly (Galantis)
  • Timewarp (Rocky Horror Picture Show)
  • Happy (Pharrell Williams)
  • Firework (Katy Perry)
  • Shake It Off (Taylor Swift)
  • Cha Cha Slide (Mr C)
  • Rock the Boat (Hues Corporation)
  • Hey Ya! (Outkast)
  • Funky Town (Lipps Inc)

Or any other song you’d like! It’s completely up to you!

You can use any dance style you like too; hip hop, ballet, jazz, freestyle, (interpretative?!) and use props if you’d like! Each class can take part or the entire school!

How should we fundraise?

If you are in a position to ask your students to collect sponsorship for their efforts that would be absolutely amazing. Otherwise each student can bring in a donation (our suggestion would be €5 per child, if possible).

When to hold your Get Down event: You are welcome to hold your Get Down event any time you want between now and the end of the school year! It could tie-in with World Down Syndrome Day on Tuesday, March 21st or you can – do it as part of your school’s active week!

And for the school that raises the most we have a very special prize…

For the school that raised the most amount of money from their Get Down event we’re thrilled to say that the renowned O’Hanlon Stage School has come on board and given us an incredible prize! Their dance teacher, Rachel O’Hanlon will visit the winning school and host a fantastic and fun dance class for the winning group! The winning school will be announced on Friday, June 2nd.
