What is Buy My Dress...

Buy My Dress is an initiative to get women throughout Ireland to donate a high quality, once loved dress that is now either too big or too small (or bought on impulse and barely worn!) to be sold at Ireland’s largest one day Charity Dress Sale. It's a great event where a new little number can be bought for a mere snip of its original price. Most dresses range from between €10 - €50.

Businesses around Ireland are invited to come on board and ask their staff and friends to donate to the cause and some businesses are kind enough to act as a drop off point for the general public. For retailers this can be an added bonus getting footfall across the door. We also encourage ladies to organise 'Girls Nights In' or coffee mornings where friends and colleagues could bring along a dress to the occasion.

Another option for donating is to send your dress FREEPOST to The Down Syndrome Centre, Unit 1, 88-89 Furze Road, Sandyford Industrial Estate, Dublin 18.

As well as donations from the general public the dress donations from celebrities increases with every year. Last year we received a record amount from Imelda May, Pixie Lott, Saoirse Ronan, Amy Hubberman, Miriam O’Callaghan, Glenda Gilson, Jackie Lavin, Sile Seoige, Laura Whitmore and many more!

There is something for everyone with over 8,000 dresses donated last year from evening, debs, casual , high street and day wear, and all on show across the events in Ireland.

In 2015 we have five venues on board, the main event in Dublin is being held in the Serpentine Hall, RDS, with other events running in Cork, Galway, Wexford and Limerick. All events will run on the same day, Sunday October 4th. The event isn’t possible without the huge support we receive from Volunteers, who either help with collections, organising donations or becoming our 'Pinny Ladies' on the day, helping run the whole event. If you are interested in becoming involved in this fun and exciting event please do call us on 01 6618000 or email info@downsyndromecentre.ie.

So mark your diary Ladies, this is an event NOT TO BE MISSED!
