A World View of Down syndrome

So many organisations worldwide are working to create opportunity for people with Down syndrome and we thought we'd take a weekly look at some of those whose work has caught our attention.

Gigi's Playhouse is a not for profit Down syndrome awareness center based in Illinois, USA with four centres located in the state. The center was started by Nancy and Paul Gianni whose daughter, Giuliana was born with Down syndrome. They wanted "to show the world the tremenduous potential that children with Down syndrome have to offer".

They offer acitivities, resources, educational programs and support for individuals with Ds, their families, and the community. They celebrate the lives, talents and potential of individuals with Ds. All their activities - for newborns all the way to adults - are offered at no charge.

What began as one center has grown to four and we take great heart in their success! We also love the faulous video which they produced which reinforces some great positive messages about Down syndrome and our attitudes.

We'd love to hear if you like it too!

Ahhh so cute!
It's amazing to hear what that family did in the US. It will be great when DSC get something like that set up here. Best of luck!

Made me think and appreciate, also to remember not to judge people from the outside, but to look closely at the person inside too.
