How one man with Down syndrome made shoppers smile
We came across this wonderful example of how one young man with Down syndrome turned his seemingly mundane job as a supermarket bag packer into a shinning example of how to deliver the ultimate in customer service.
Sceptics have suggested it's a clever marketing ploy and question why "Johnny's" face is never seen on screen or the name of the supermarket revealed. But whether it's legend or fact, what makes it a credible story on another level is that we know it's the type of input and the difference a person with Down syndrome would make. That someone may have chosen to create a character with Down syndrome to get their point across here only serves to highlight the positive light in which they are viewed.
Take a look at how "Johnny" - stereotype or not - chose to make the difference.
Thanks for your comment. Yes we are aware that this could be conceived as a clever marketing ploy but as we point out in the opening paragraph of this blog, regardless of whether it is a true story or a marketing exercise, what remains is a hugely positive portrayal of people with Down syndrome which caught our eye in the first place.

Do we know this is a true story and not something dreamt up by a PR/Consultancy company? Who made this piece? Naturally, I hope it's ture - but if it's a fiction, it's pretty outrageous. To be honest, I would be surprised if a supermarket allowed a worker to distribute (unedited?) thoughts into the bags of shoppers ...
