A new initiative commencing shortly on the site will focus on the various employers in Ireland who have welcomed a person/people with Down syndrome as members of their workforce.

Young adults with Down syndrome leave school with the same hopes and dreams as everyone. Research has shown that employers who have employees with Down syndrome on their staff report benefits such as improved staff morale, improved staff attendance, reduced staff turnover, and an improved corporate image. And in turn, people with Down syndrome benefit from being able from the training and social interaction that having meaningful employment can provide.

With appropriate training and support, people with Down syndrome can and do make an important contribution to the workplace. We want more companies to overcome their reluctance to giving it a try.

The "Living and Working with Ds" tab on the site, will carry interviews with people with Down syndrome, their employer and the companies they work for. Our intention is to show the many Irish businesses who have embraced including a person with Down syndrome on their workforce and to highlight the benefits this brings to their organisation.

We have developed a special logo which acknowledges the opportunity which these employers provide for people with Down syndrome. We hope they will display it on their website proudly recognise they part they are playing to advocate for people with a learning disability.
