New SLT Joins DSC Advisory Panel

We are delighted to welcome Marinet Van Vuren, Speech and Language Therapist as advisor to our website. She will begin to blog weekly about issues relating to SLT for people with Down syndrome shortly.

South African born Marinet has worked in Ireland for the past seven years, gaining valuable experience in a range of disability organisations including Enable Ireland, St Michael’s House and the Children’s Sunshine Home.

In 2008 she obtained a Master of Science degree in Speech and Language Pathology through the University of Cape Town. She has recently set up a private speech and language therapy practice, called Bright Stars, in Rathfarnham, where she and her colleague see children of all disabilities with various speech, language and feeding difficulties.

We look forward to her weekly contributions and to gaining some valuable information about the role of speech of language therapy in the early development of children with intellectual disability.

Welcome Marinet!

Hi Marinet,

Greetings from NZ. Great to see you are still there and are now involved with this centre. Molly says hi, she recognises your photo.
