Recruiting for the Mini Marathon - Monday 1st June

Now that the evenings are getting longer and the clocks will soon be springing forward, what better way to mark the beginning of spring/summer than to participate in The Flora Women’s Mini Marathon 2009 on Bank Holiday Monday 1st June at 3.00pm?

As you have taken part before you will know what a great ‘girl power’ day it is, and will also be aware that Irish charities that are the real winners from this event. It’s the world’s biggest all women’s running event, currently raising over €10 million of for so many good causes.

As always, you could partake on an individual basis or maybe you would like to enter our new team event? We are inviting groups of five walkers/runners to compete together. On completion of the 10k you pool your times to come up with a group total and the fastest time achieved, for a group of runners and walkers, will receive a group prize. We would be delighted if you would support us again, either on your own or why not encourage a group of friends/ family or work colleagues to make up a team?

Entry forms will be available in The Evening Herald from 26th February, every Thursday and Saturday, or on-line from 27th February at www.womensminimarathon.ie.  Closing date is 21st April. Please note all participants must be at least 14 years old on Mini Marathon Day.

In return, we will provide you with sponsorship cards, a singlet t-shirt and a fun hat for those who take part in the team event. And we have a great venue for you to meet, change, leave your bags in safety and enjoy the Celebration Party after you cross the finish line, in O’Donoghue’s Pub on Merrion Row.

If you’d like to take part and raise funds for the Down Syndrome Centrel, call us on 01 661 8000 or drop us an email to info@downsyndromecentre.ie.
