35K Raised - Buy My Dress a Huge Success!!!!

Madness and mayhem descended on the Royal College of Physicians on the 11th  June even before the 10.00 o'clock start of Buy My Dress when early customers wanted a sneak preview.

Once the doors officially opened we had close on 300 people through in the first 2.5 hours when dedicated followers of fashion queued outside the changing rooms with arms laiden with dresses to be tried on. A second overflow changing room was hastily opened downstairs to accommodate the dress hunters.

One lady took off a dress to try something on and it disappeared  - but was retrieved! Another lucky lady took the train from Ballina to buy her wedding dress and was over the moon to have got such a bargain.

Louis Copeland dropped in later in the morning to offer some styling advice to shoppers and the dresses donated by celebs and non-celebs alike continued to leave the premises in the clutches of happy customers.

The buzz was fantastic and the tills rang all day long to generate income of €35K for the charity.

And what did the customers think? One thoughtful lady dropped us a line to give us her opinion:

“Just wanted to congratulate you on a fantastic event yesterday – and all for such a great cause! My friends and I each found some lovely dresses for our summer wardrobes. It was also lovely to see so many women chatting and enjoying themselves trying on things in the changing room –it became a social event with strangers sharing their finds, offering advice and suggesting dresses for others.”

If you donated a dress, gave your time and expertise on the day, or provided us with a service - whatever way you helped we are very grateful that you did!
