We were recently contacted by Kelly Boutilier, who runs her own business called Rhythm Seekers, ( www.rhythmseekers.org ) which provides tailor-made rhythm-based programs for community, youth & disability groups, schools and even corporates around Dublin.
  
Kelly has offered to do a one-hour Drumming Workshop for children with Down syndrome on Saturday 24th April, in Bective Rugby Club, Donnybrook at 11am.
This workshop would be a great introduction to music and rhythm for kids with Down syndrome, which they may not have previously had access to.
The group would be suitable for children aged approx. 5-14 years  old.

Drumming circles and Rhythm Seekers is as much about personal transformation as it is about the music, says Kelly. When people sit in a drum circle and begin to play music together, magic happens! In her experience children simply love drumming no matter what age or ability. "There is something freeing about being involved in a drum circle because no matter what you play or how you play, you can't get it wrong! It's great fun to watch parents interact with their children during a drum circle as often it is the first time either has had a chance to play this fabulous instrument and both are keen to explore. What sounds can we make? What happens when we play together? So many wonderful things can be discovered when we drum together!" And in the middle of all this fun of course the children are following instructions and learning all the time.

Places at the workshop are limited to 20 children, but siblings and parents are very welcome too at the drum circle.
