Swell reception for Sporting Proud

Because of the tropical weather of last Friday which provided temperatures in the twenties and cloudless blue skies, one might have expected Saturday to have delivered fairly good weather for the Sporting Proud Triathlon.

Not to be. The day dawned grey and cold and created some very challenging conditions for those taking part in the swim with huge waves and swells making even the die-hard triathletes declare this to have been one of the hardest swims ever. For our small team it was the one big straw that could possibly have broken the camels back but ... we persevered and our swimmer made it back to the transition area in record time!!!

But away from the beach and the on-shore breeze and once the rain stopped, the conditions were fine for the bike and run and the event was a great success. Our team made an excellent account of itself and thanks to those you who paid out. The risk was considerable and worth every penny you pledged!

We were delighted to have beeen one of the benefiting charities this year and would like to thank the committee for all their hard work in creating a great event and helping us raise much needed funds.
