General Information Evenings for Parents

The first of our General Information Evenings for Parents of Children with Down syndrome takes place next Tuesday evening at 7.30pm (Tues 29th March) in the Shelbourne Hotel, St. Stephen's Green, Dublin 2. It is suitable for parents of children of all ages to attend.

There will be two speakers during the evening, and a coffee break inbetween them, which should provide a wonderful chance to meet and chat with other parents and families.

The first speaker is Ms Fiona Fitzgerald. She is an Audiologist in Our Lady's Children's Hospital,Crumlin. She will present an overview of the hearing system, audiological assments in babies and children; and the audiological features of people with Down syndrome. She will also look at Glue Ear, it's management and hearing and rehabilitiation services for those with impaired hearing.
Directly after her session she will take questions from the floor. So if there's anything about your children's hearing that you were ever wondering about this could be the ideal opportunity for you to find out the answer.

After the break Parenting Expert with the Irish Times, John Sharry will discuss issues relating to sibling rivalry in families where there is a child with a disability.
As well as writing in the Irish Times John has also written ten books on parenting and positive psychology, is a co-developer of the award winning Parents Plus Programmes, is a social worker, psychotherapist, life coach and internation workshop leader and trainer.
This a great opportunity for parents to ask John any questions they may have about their children's actions and behaviour.

The cost to attend is  €10pp, and there are still places left.  This small fee will cover some of the cost of hiring of the room and the tea and coffee break.
To reserve your place please phone Jennifer on 01 661 8000.

Hi, like the comment above, I am unable to attend as I live outside Dublin. I would really appreciate if there was handouts or if something similar could be organised for the midlands?
Many thanks
