Our Board’s Responsibilities:

Our organisation is managed by a Board of Directors. The responsibilities of our board include the following:

  • Meet regularly to provide support and leadership to benefit the centre’s development.
  • Set and implement the strategic direction of our centre with due respect and regard for the charity’s mission, goals and ethos
  • Monitor and work to maintain a high standard of performance from our organisation’s team.

Board Members:

David McParland

Trustee

David is a practising barrister. He joined the Board of the DSC in April 2016. David is married to Anne-Marie Casey and lives in Ranelagh, Dublin with their three daughters. Their second child Hannah attends The Down Syndrome Centre.

Lynda O’Brien

Trustee

Lynda is a director and co-owner of Trim Castle Hotel in Meath. She is a mother of 4, her youngest daughter Julie has Down syndrome, and attends Trinity College. Lynda has been a devoted supporter of the charity, running various events over the years in support of the DSC and being a Trustee since 2016.

Niamh Garvey

Trustee

Niamh is a Senior Director at Edelman, joining the board in September 2018. She has over 20 years of strategic marketing communications experience working with clients across diverse industry categories and geographics.
Niamh is married to Colm and mum to Ryan, aged four, who attends the Down Syndrome Centre.

Lorraine Costelloe

Trustee

Lorraine is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and has worked in financial services for over 20 years, with experience across across Finance, Treasury, Customer Experience & Products.

Lorraine is married to Don – they have three wonderful children together – Seán, Clodagh & Marie. Seán continues to enjoy great support & friendship via the Down Syndrome Centre.

Peter Wilson

Treasurer

Peter is a Chartered Surveyor and Entrepreneur operating across all sectors of commercial real estate. He is currently a Director of Wilson Wright a property development and asset management consultancy.

Peter joined the board in 2021 and is also a member of the Steering Committee to the Together Academy. He is married to Laura and they have three children one of whom, Margot, continues to thrive within the many programs offered by the Down Syndrome Centre.

Suzanne Crowe

Trustee

Dr. Suzanne Crowe is a Consultant in Pediatric Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine. She is Senior Lecturer in Pediatrics with the School of Medicine, TCD, a member of the Medical Intern Board, and an elected member of the Irish Medical Council, where she is Chair of the Ethics Committee. She has a particular interest in Bereavement Studies and Medical Ethics. Suzanne joined the Board of The Down Syndrome Centre in October 2020.

    Welcome back,
