DSC Ambassador Kevin Kilbane

We’re thrilled to say that Irish football legend, Kevin Kilbane has come on board as a Down Syndrome Centre ambassador!

Starting in his new role with us, Kevin told us that he is “proud and honoured to be an ambassador for The Down Syndrome Centre. I hope I can play a small part in helping with the amazing work provided by all the staff in the centre, helping to support the needs of all the children who attend in giving them a brighter future.”

We are delighted to announce Kevin Kilbane as our new Ambassador to the Charity, Kevin has been a continuous supporter of the work we do in The Down Syndrome Centre; competing in various events on our behalf, notably the challenging ‘Sea2Summit’ in Westport each year, where he endures a gruelling course to help raise funds for the DSC, which we appreciate so much!

Kevin has a daughter with Down syndrome so he is only too aware of the challenges that face so many children and families, and he has a strong understanding of the importance and relevance of receiving early intervention to aid in a child reaching their full potential.

About Kevin

Kevin is a former professional footballer who played as both a left back and a left winger. Born and raised in England but of Irish parentage, Kilbane won 110 caps for the Republic of Ireland national team, making him one of the top three most capped Irish players of all time.

Kilbane played for several English clubs including Everton, West Bromwich Albion, Sunderland, Wigan Athletic, Huddersfield Town and Derby County and Coventry City. He has worked as a pundit for RTÉ Sport and is now a columnist for the Irish Daily Mail and appears on TV3 Ireland, BBC Radio 5 Live, Football Focus, Final Score, Ireland’s ‘Off The Ball’ football Show and Match of the Day.
