Camino De Santiago – Portuguese Costal Way – 10th October to 17th October 2020

Experience everything the historic Camino has to offer and create lasting happy memories for yourself while also helping provide vital services for children with Down Syndrome.  Join our walk through the final 100K of the famous Portuguese Costal walk into Santiago.  The walk caters for various levels of fitness, so each walker can take part at a pace they are comfortable with

The walk takes us along the spectacular Portuguese costal route with amazing costal scenery, through lush forests, rolling farmlands and rustic villages.  Your final stop will be in Santiago de Compostela where you will have a day and a half to enjoy the Galician sites and cuisine.  You will also get a 2 hour tour of the historic old town of Santiago which has remained the same for centuries.  It has a labyrinth of old, narrow cobbled streets and in 1985 it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Camino Information night is taking place at 6.30pm in JWT Offices in 143 Lwr Baggot Street on April 1st 2020.

To register your interest, please contact rhona@downsyndromecentre.ie or call us on 01-661-8000.

Fundraising

Where to Start

The fun doesn’t stop with the training! Create an Everyday Hero Fundraising Page to help raise vital funds for the Down Syndrome Centre through this year’s Camino Walk. We are asking participants to work toward a €1000 fundraising target, and have a few tips for your on how to hit that goal below!

To join an Everyday Hero Fundraising Page team, or for online fundraising questions please contact us at rhona@downsyndromecentre.ie or 01-661-8000.

For good old fashioned sponsorship cards, please contact us at the email or phone number above. We are happy to send out sponsorship cards, sometimes it’s the best way to reach out to friends, family and work colleagues!

Top Fundraising Tips

1.Create a dynamic online fundraising page. Add a profile picture and a little note about yourself, and why you are choosing to fundraise. People want to know why you’re doing what you’re doing… however crazy it is!

2. Update your friends and family often. Sometimes it takes more than one post on your social media page to get results! Especially with a length of time. Every half-marathon or run you do, let people know!

3. Teamwork makes the dream work. Consider joining up with a few friends or family members and making a joint fundraising page. It’s way more fun to watch the numbers climb with a little help from your friends!
