The only thing better than rising to a challenge is rising to a challenge for a good cause! Many of our fantastic supporters have chosen to push themselves to the limits for The Down Syndrome Centre in the past and we’re so grateful for their incredible efforts!
If you would like to complete a challenge event for us this year we’d be absolutely thrilled! We try to help our Challenge Champions as much as we can with their training and fundraising efforts – it’s the least we can do! The Great Dublin Bike Ride

The Great Dublin Bike Ride will be held in September 2019, and will feature two courses for the big day! Tune up your bike and cycle for The Down Syndrome Centre. Everyday Hero makes it easy to register for the cycle while fundraising for The Down Syndrome Centre. More info here

Coast to Coast Cycle Costa Rica

Pedal your way 500km from the Pacific to the Caribbean! Cycle from the ocean’s aquamarine waters to the lush, green of the rainforest – Costa Rica provides a stunning backdrop for this awesome adventure.Mother Nature has endowed the country with a virtual treasure trove of white sand beaches, tropical rainforest and a myriad of rare flora and fauna, spread between the Pacific and Caribbean. This breathtaking bike ride encompasses traditional Costa Rican farmlands, bustling colonial cities, stunning mountain ranges, smouldering volcanoes and tropical Caribbean lowlands. More info here
London to Paris Bike Ride

The London to Paris Bike Ride is an awesome cycling challenge and is by far one of the best fundraising events in Europe, attracting hundreds of riders each year and raising thousands for charities nationwide. Spend 4 days in the saddle, cycling 311 miles from capital to capital. More info here
Cycle India

If you enjoy exploring on a bike, India is a wonderful place to head to. It’s a destination that conjures up vibrant and intoxicating imagery of vivid colours and intricate architecture. Add this to a rich culture and an epic history and you can see why it really does have something to offer everyone.
By taking part in this charity ride you get to experience this wonderful country from a totally unique perspective, make new friends, and raise money for a great cause at the same time. More info here
Euro City Cycle – Link 3 Capitals by Bike

300 miles in 3 countries to 3 capitals – London, Amsterdam and Brussels. This superb bike ride caters for every level of cyclist. This event will see you cover approximately 300 miles with 4 days in the saddle, and takes in the rolling countryside of Essex, the plains of Holland and the sleepy lanes of Belgium. More info here

Run a Marathon for The Down Syndrome Centre!
The only thing that feels better than crossing a finish line (of a marathon, half-marathon, 10 mile, 10km, 5km run or even a 1km stroll!) is crossing it for a good cause!
We’ve been so lucky to have had hundreds of supporters challenge themselves in aid of the Down Syndrome Centre over the years and we help out our athletes as much as we can – it’s the least we can do!

Brazil Trek and Kayak Challenge

Brazil is the world’s fifth-largest country, occupying almost half the South American continent. In its 8.5 million square kilometres Brazil possesses fantastic landscapes and cultural diversity. This exciting challenge combines trekking in the Serra da Bocaina National Park and kayaking in the Bay of Paraty around a substantial rainforest area between Rio and São Paulo, very close to the Tropics. Zambezi River Challenge

Zambezi River means “Great River.” Being the fourth longest river in Africa, flowing 2700kms through six countries on its way from North-Western Zambia to the Indian Ocean, much of it remains mysterious and unexplored. On this unique, varied and exhilarating river challenge, you will paddle your way over 100kms down one of the toughest rivers in Africa – the mighty Zambezi and witness the Awesome Victoria Falls. Feel the Chill for The Down Syndrome Centre!
For most of us, Ireland is usually quite cold enough but, for those of you looking for the ultimate arctic adventure, we’ve some freezing options below!
Dog Sledding Challenge

Drive your own team of huskies, mushing over 200kms through beautiful snow covered forests and into the glorious mountains in Swedish Lapland. This is a once in a life time opportunity to witness the beauty of the Northern Lights. On this challenge you will learn to take responsibility for the care and welfare of your dogs and you will also muck in to prepare camp and cook your own food. While you are doing this challenge you will learn about the Sami People, the largest indigenous group left in Europe. Find out more info here
North Pole Ski Challenge

Take part in this once in a lifetime trip to the North Pole. You will ski and sledge for around 8 hours per day, in the process encountering many challenges and breathtaking scenery. Only a select few make it each year. This is your chance to add your name to the short list of adventurers who have made the ultimate journey to the top of the world. Read more about it here
South Pole Ski Challenge

One of the planet’s last great untouched wildernesses, the South Pole has long been the crowning jewel of polar exploration. This incredible journey takes you across the last degree of the planet’s surface, skiing the final 111 kilometres (60 nautical miles) under your own power, in conditions that can drop to as low as -40C. Following in the wake of the first pioneering polar explorers, you’ll face challenges that will require patience, determination and untapped resources of physical and mental strength as you take on one of the harshest and most breathtaking landscapes on earth. This is a challenge to get you out of your comfort zone and onto Iceland’s most extreme glacial landscapes. Spend five days ski-trekking across Langjökull glacier ice cap, enjoying incredible scenery along the way.
