Join our 2022 VHI Mini Marathon Team

When women come together, incredible things can happen!

Over the years our Mini Marathon team has grown.  There is a reason for that.  The wonderful women who join our team know that this is not just a 10km run, it is an event which directly helps children with Down syndrome thrive.

Become a leader and get your friends and family involved and make a life changing difference (it doesn’t hurt and the craic and laughter never stops).

If you just want to do it yourself join our Mini Marathon team at our meeting spot on Sunday 5th June and find out how it feels to be a star for our little stars.

To register, phone us at 01 661 8000 or email rhona@downsyndromecentre.ie   Back to Main Fundraising Page

Donate

Thank You

Thank you so much for choosing to make a donation to The Down Syndrome Centre, we really appreciate it! It is thanks to the generosity of our donors that we can continue to help children with Down syndrome reach their milestones.

Funding

We need to raise €500,000 annually to continue to provide vital early-intervention services to children with Down syndrome and to their families. As we receive no funding at all from the Irish Government, this income is raised 100% through fundraising and donations.

How to Donate

Online Donations

Please choose the amount that you would like to donate from the Shining Suns above.

If you would like to donate an amount that isn’t listed click on the ‘donate here’ link below the shining suns!

Lodge a Donation

If you would prefer to make a donation through a bank lodgement or via online banking then all you need from us are our centre’s bank details which are:

Account Name: The Down Syndrome Centre Bank: AIB, Cornelscourt, Dublin 18 Account Number: 31976077 Sort Code: 93-33-92 IBAN: IE68 AIBK 93339231976077 BIC: AIBKIE2D

Post a Donation

Alternatively if you would like to send a cheque or money order, please make it payable to The Down Syndrome Centre and post it to:

The Down Syndrome Centre Shrewsbury House Old Bray Road Cabinteely Dublin 18

Please make a note of your name and address as part of your cheque payment or lodgement so we can acknowledge your generosity!

Your donation could qualify for tax relief!

There is a way to make your donation count for even more – at no extra cost to you! If you are an Irish taxpayer and you donate a total of €250 or more in a calendar year, we can claim back tax on your donation – at no extra cost to you.

All you have to do is complete and return a CHY4 Cert and we can do the rest.

Thank you for helping us build a brighter future for people with Down syndrome.

Fundraising

Fundraising Made Easy

Once you’ve registered with the Mini Marathon organisers, along with us, it’s time to start fundraising! In your Mini Marathon pack, we’ll send you out a physical sponsorship card. This is a great way to fundraise at work, at home, and with friends and family. We recommend keeping the card in your bag so you have it close at hand!

Everyday Hero

Welcome to virtual fundraising! Everyday Hero has become the favourite (and most successful!) fundraising tool for Mini Marathoners. Easy to set up, easy to share on social media, and linked directly with our charity, participants have found it is the best way to raise funds!   Setting up an everydayhero.com page for yourself. This online donation page is very user friendly and is easy to share on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or via email or Whatsapp. And you can add videos and photos to let your supporters know how training is coming along. People respond strongly to a personal connection so if you know a little person who attends services in the centre, it’s always very effective to talk about the difference we have made to their (or your) lives.   Click below for a step by step guide in setting up your very own page. Everyday Hero Page Instructions   We recommend sharing your Everyday Hero page regularly leading up to the Mini Marathon, and the sooner you set it up the better! Give your family and friends ample time to support your amazing effort!

Other ways to fundraise:

  • Host your own event- why not have a small fundraising event to encourage friends and family to join you in your 10km challenge? Anything from a coffee morning, to a bake sale or pub quiz are great at getting people involved! Contact Madeline to get in touch about fundraising events and to learn more about how we can support you: madeline@downsyndromecentre.ie or 01-661-8000.

  • Match funding! Did you know many companies do matched funding for charity fundraising? Check with your HR or accounting department to see what your company do to double your impact!

Let’s make this our most successful year yet by raising €50,000 for

The Down Syndrome Centre!

Stuff

You’ve just finished 10km for us – the least we can do is give you a fun time (and somewhere to sit down)!   The great thing about this year’s Mini Marathon is that it is taking place on Sunday, June 2nd so you’ll have the following day (it is a Bank Holiday weekend, after all) to recover! Sore muscles, sore head – whatever!

Every year we’ve made it our priority to give our Mini Marathoners a good send-off and an even better welcome back after the race. This year we’ll be taking over a fabulous city centre venue again and making sure that you get into the party spirit with music, face painting, photo ops, drinks and food.   There are two types of women who do the Mini Marathon for us: the ladies who train to run all or some of the course and the ladies who mark it in their calendars as a day to catch up with their friends and let their hair down. Whichever one you are, you’ll still be finishing off a 10km route for us so you deserve to be fantastically proud of yourself and that calls for a celebration!
