Dublin Marathon- Who’s running?
Oct 21, 2019 by

We are wishing all of our runners the best of luck this weekend as they give up their Sunday to support the Down Syndrome Centre. We are lucky to have three special people running for us this year; Rory O’Connor, Bobby Geraghty and Joe & Trish Geoghegan.

All four have been training hard the past few months, and have put in the time and effort to fundraise on behalf of our centre. While Joe and Rory have a series of marathon’s under their belts, this is Bobby and Trish’s first marathon, and all 4 runners have a strong connection to the centre through friends and family.

This week, we are highlighting Joe & Trish Geoghegan who are raising funds on behalf of their son Tony (12) who attends the centre regularly. In a recent interview, Joe expressed why they were running in aid of the centre this year:

” Simply put, the Down Syndrome Centre is one of the best things that we have done in helping Tony continue to be the best version of himself. From day one, they have welcomed us and have done everything they can to help Tony in every aspect of his life from Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy social groups to linking in with his school. They’ve been there for us since we stepped through their doors.”

We want to extend a big thank you to everyone who has stepped up to run in aid of our centre, and we are wishing you sunny skies and a safe 26.2 miles on Sunday, October 27th!
