Mission 21

Mission 21 Appeal in aid of The Down Syndrome Centre

Mission 21 is a Radio & Celebrity Video appeal, which was created to raise awareness about Down syndrome, raise vital funds for our charity, and celebrate World Down Syndrome Day 2017.

Video

21 well known Irish Personalities from the worlds of Acting, TV, Music and Sport feature in our short video that highlights the challenges children with Down syndrome face and the supports that are so vital to overcome these challenges.

We would like to say a HUGE Thank You to…

Radio Appeal

In combination with the celebrity video, DSC’s media partner Classic Hits 4fm drove a nail-biting fundraising appeal on radio on all of their shows from 20th – 24th March, which included radio ads from all of the celebrities and heartfelt interviews from parents. The radio appeal culminated in a live broadcast of The Damian Farrelly Show from The Down Syndrome Centre on the final day.

Parents

Thank you to all of the parents that shared their personal stories and did interviews for the appeal. You can listen to some of them by clicking the links below

The Centre, Celebrities, Parents & Classic Hits 4fm asked people to support the campaign by texting ‘DSC’ to 50300 to donate €4 or by logging onto downsyndromecentre.ie to make a donation.

Mission 21 is a play on Trisomy 21 which is the most common form of Down syndrome.

Mission 21 was proudly supported by FLYEfit

About The Down Syndrome Centre

The Down Syndrome Centre opened in 2014 and now provides services to over 200 children each week including a wide range of therapies, workshops and camps.

Our primary mission is to help children with Down syndrome to reach their full potential

We also have a huge focus on families. The centre is a place for parents to meet, get information and advice, make friends, build support networks and communities.

We have created several awareness campaigns that promote inclusion, acceptance and an understanding that having Down syndrome is just a part of a person, it does not define them.

The Down Syndrome Centre believes that every child with Down syndrome should have the opportunity, with the right supports, to develop the skills to live independent and fulfilling lives

The Down Syndrome Centre receives no government funding. 100% of our funding comes through fundraising

We are appealing to people to please make a donation to our Mission 21 campaign to enable us to continue to provide services and supports to children with Down syndrome and their families.

Thank you for your support.

We would like to thank Avcom for their support with our Mission 21 video.

Thank you for helping us raise €35,700!

Our Mission 21 Radio Campaign came to a glorious end on Classic Hits 4fm on Friday 24th March 2017 making a final tally of a truly incredible €35,700! We set out to raise €21,000 in 5 days and the result was beyond our highest expectations, going €14,700 over our target. We would like to say a huge thanks to the staff and presenters in Classic Hits 4fm for putting together an amazing radio campaign and for working so hard to promote it on all of their shows throughout the week.

We are extremely grateful to the 21 celebrities who took part in our Mission 21 video and in the radio appeal for all of their support. We want to give a big shout out to FLYEfit Gyms who got behind the campaign. And finally we would like to sincerely thank all of the Classic Hits 4fm Listeners and everyone who donated to the campaign for your unbelievable generosity – your support will help us continue to provide vital services to children with Down syndrome.
