Challenges:

Handwriting is a complex skill, and it is not unusual for some students with disabilities to have difficulty with handwriting. Some students may also have sensory integration problems, therefore handwriting groups are a format that provides direct instruction in handwriting combined with sensory integration activities.

We will be working on:

  • Letter formation
  • Pencil grip
  • Hand strength
  • Fine motor skills
  • Correct posture

Aim:

To assess and improve pencil grip and posture together with improving hand strength, manipulation and the underlying visual perception skills needed for legible handwriting.

Outcomes:

  • Improved writing skills
  • Improved self-confidence and self-esteem
  • New friendships
  • Improved listening skills
  • Improved conversation skills

Cost: €15 per 45 minute session
