Back to School Information

Starting the School Year

Back to school season can be an exciting, but sometimes stressful time for parents and families. Especially when your child is off to school for the first time. This period from summer into a routine classroom environment is a transition for both kids and parents.

Your child may be coming from a traditional creche or playschool, or may be coming from a more specialised programme- like SKIP (Special Kids Intervention Programme). Either way, there are many new experiences your child will encounter in the classroom each year.

Our friends at Financial Well Being have put together a series of articles on ‘Back to School’ preparedness. You can find those articles below, and more on financial planning here.

Back to School Allowance

The Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance can help parents meet the cost of uniforms and footwear for their children. The allowance paid for each eligible child aged 4-11 is €150. Children aged 12-22 in full-time second-level education in a recognised school or college in the autumn of 2019 is €275.

Parents who automatically qualify would have received their payment during the week starting 8th of July 2019.
